BOARD OF SELECTMEN
The Board of Selectmen is composed of five (5) members elected at large in the Town of Oxford for staggered three year terms. The Board conducts business meetings; open to the public, on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The Selectmen represent the policy-making body of the Town under the “Home Rule” state law, Title 30-A MRSA, Town Ordinances, and the Town Meeting Warrant.

BOARD OF ASSESSORS
The Board of Selectmen also serves as the Board of Assessors. The Assessors are directed by the State Bureau of Taxation, under Title 36 MRSA, to fairly assess all real and personal property in the town and to report, annually, that assessment to the Tax Collector for the purpose of proper taxation.

The Town Manager is initially appointed by the Board of Selectmen to serve as the Chief Executive and Administrative Official of the Town. The Manager serves the Town under the “Town Manager Plan” as described in Title 30-A MRSA, which more specifically addresses the powers and duties of the office.
